There is a proliferation of tools to manage the IT project portfolio, these range widely in price and functionality. This presentation is a case study of the implementation of a simple and cost effective (New Zealand based) tool that significantly improved our ability to track and control technology projects. Otago is now investigating ways in which this tool can be applied to other areas of our core business. This paper aligns to the themes of sharing and connection. Tracy heads the Strategy and Planning Department of The University of Otago. Within this role she is responsible for the overall strategic plan, assisting on key strategic projects, and assisting ITS customers to develop departmental and divisional strategic plans and projects. Tracy brings a broad experience in Strategy and Planning from an IT and a wider organisational perspective. Within ANZ Banking Group, she worked at a national and global level including senior roles which incorporated Operating Risk, IT Planning, Payments Policy, Vendor Relationship Management and Head of Strategy for the Small Business Division. More recently, as a management consultant in the Dunedin practice of Deloitte, she carried out a number of successful strategy reviews for both local and national clients within the public and private sectors.
